The start of baby's GCE O level exams
Tuesday, October 26, 2010
Yesterday was the official start of the GCE O level examination. I guess all sec 4 students have been anxiously waiting for this day to arrive and to sit for the exam and get it done with before enjoying the long holidays! I have been a secondary 4 student before too, so i do know exactly how each and every student taking their O levels is feeling right now! I still remember feeling all panicky and so afraid that i would just fail all my subjects. My secondary 3 basics for my math and science subjects were not good and i remember having to spend many months before the O loevels revising through all the basic concepts. Not to forget, the sleepless nights i had studying hard to catch up for lost time too! I guess many of you must be concerned about whether you will be able to score well for the O levels, but i believe that what is most important is that you have prepared yourself sufficiently for the exam and that you have done your best! Whatever final score that you may get is not important, what matters most is the process that you've gone through and whether you have put in your best! And for those who feel really stressed out and feel like giving up now, dont give up just yet because you are just less than a month away from completing your O levels! Plus i am also sure that you would not want 3 years and 10 months of hardwork to go down the drain right? So just give it your best shot and persevere! :)

The first paper yesterday was English Paper 1 and 2 and it is the E math paper 1 today! I hope that all the formulas are intact in your brain and all the best for the other papers! :D

( Special wishes to Rebecca baby, my younger sister Lyndsey, Zuo fu, Junwen, Chelsea, Jasline, sec4 sailing and golf juniors, and other secondary 4 friends taking the GCE O level exams this year! )

3rd monthsary! ♥
Tuesday, October 12, 2010
Time flies and it before we knew it, it was baby and my 3rd month! :)
Our 3rd monthsary celebration was planned by baby and both of us had a great time!

I went over to fetch baby from her house as usual and we took bus to Vivocity! First up on our list of plans was to catch a movie. We bought our tickets the first thing we reached Vivo! Baby wanted to catch a romance movie, but we couldn't find any nice timings for a nice romance show! So we decided to catch "Charlie St. Cloud" which was a movie on an elder brother's love for his younger brother who passed away in a car accident. After we bought our tickets, we still had about 45mins so we decided to shop for some chips at Vivomart and we went to Carl's Junior to grab a quick bite as both of us were feeling kinda hungry! We just ordered a light snack of a large drink and beef chilli cheese fries! For those who have no idea what it tastes like, go try it coz it tastes awesome! :D
After we had our quick snack, our movie was gonna start soon so we rushed back to the cinema and we were just in time for the start of the movie! :) It was a 1hour and 40mins show! The movie was really touching and both of us enjoyed watching it! :)

After our movie, next on baby's list of plans was to bring me for a 'surprise event'! She brought to this place called "Build a bear workshop"! It was a store where we could choose our own bear/dog skins and then stuff them with cotton and dress them up on our own! Here are the few steps that we had to take!

~~~
Step 1 -- Selection
First, you must choose which bear you are going to make. But, don't let the name "Build A Bear" fool you. You can also make other animals including pigs, bunnies, kitties, turtles and more. The prices range from $17.90 to $40++ depending on which animal you pick to build. We picked the 'Buttercup bear' for $32.90 coz i thought it looked really cute! Understand that these prices are not your final price, but rather your starting amount that will get added to as your bear is customized.
Step 2 -- Add-a-Sound
Here, you can add a sound (or multiple sounds) to your bear. Some of the sounds include prerecorded songs like Happy Birthday, Teddy Bear's Picnic, or a Lullaby. You can record your own phrase, or choose from some preselected ones. Prices here range from $6-$14, and its optional. Baby and i decided on installing a prerecorded sound of 'i love you' for our bear!
Step 3 --Stuffing
Next, your bear needs stuffing. Here an attendant attaches your bear to a hose and air pushes stuffing into your bear. You can choose for how firm or floppy your new friend will be. They let you control the hose by either stepping on a pedal or pushing on a small button attached to a cord. Baby and i took turns stepping on the pedal. :)
Before the bear is totally stuffed they insert a barcode inside of it which is part of the Find-A-Bear ID system, this later will track your bear so if its ever lost build a bear can find its rightful owner and send it back to you.
Last but not least, your bear needs a heart. The hearts are in red and are slightly larger than the size of a 50cent coin. Before putting in the heart you first need to make a wish and give it a kiss. I made a wish before inserting the heart into the bear. Finally, the bear is stitched shut and you are off to the next station. :D
Step 4 -- Bathing
This station is all in good fun and looks kind of like a big bathtub. Here you put your bear in the tub and using a foot pedal you force air all over it. There are all sorts of brushes and combs also available for necessary primping.
Step 5 -- Choose a Name
If you don't already have a name in mind, there's a big name book available to flip through. But baby and i decided to give our bear the name "Kebearry" which was actually baby's nickname! :)
Step 6 -- Wardrobe
Here's where you might spend the biggest bulk of money at! Clothing and accessories are priced anywhere from $6 to $20+ per item. They have shoes, hats, undies, pajamas, shirts, pants, boxers, special theme outfits.. you name it!
Baby and i decided to skip this step coz our bear was already costing quite a lot! We decided to come back to buy clothing for our bear during subsequent monthsaries! :D
Step 7 Birth certificate
Here's where you give all your information to Build-A-Bear so they can track your bear should it ever get lost, etc. For this part, we had to sit down in front of a computer to scan the tag on the bear and then type away. The info they want from you is pretty simple and includes your name, address, phone number, email, date of birth etc, the bear's name, etc.
You may also choose to have a birth certificate. The birth certificate would include the bear's height, weight, name etc just like on a real birth certificate! :)
Final Step
Time to check out our bear! We proceeded to the counter to pay and the total cost might sum up to quite a lot after adding the sounds, clothing etc. We were also given a punch card that once filled up can qualify for $10 off a purchase at the Build a Bear store.
They would then give you your certificate and put your bear in a great big cardboard box! The box has a carry handle on it and looks sort of like one of those cardboard pet carriers. It looks really cool and unique and all in all, baby and i had a really fun experience! :D
~~~
After our build a bear session, baby and i decided to proceed to the skygarden to sit down and enjoy the scenery while we camwhore! :D

After sitting for about half an hour, it was nearing 7pm and baby and i decided to have dinner. We strolled around Vivo in search of a nice restaurant with tantalizing food! We finally decided on having dinner at this Thai restautant called "Thai Accent" as the food looked appetizing and the ambiance looks nice! :) I had my order of pork basil rice which came with a fried egg and slices of tomato and cucumber while baby had pineapple rice with pork floss on top! Both of us ate heartily as we were hungry! :D

After our dinner, i had to send baby back home already so we left Vivo and took a bus back home! We had a fun and enjoyable day all in all! :D

I'm so looking forward to our 4th monthsary coz i'll be the one planning activities this time and i wanna have a blast coz baby's o's would be over by then! :)
