Field camp - HELL WEEK!
Saturday, February 26, 2011
Long time since i've blogged about my army life. I have the time today, so i shall blog a little bit about what i am going through! From the fateful day of 091210, it has been almost 3 months since i have enlisted into the army. I would say that i am proud of myself for having endured the hardship throughout the past 3 months. As of now, i am proud to announce that my POP is in about a month's time! :) For those who aren't aware, POP actually stands for Passing Out Parade. It is a day when you have officially completed your BMT (Basic Military Training) and will be moving on to a more advanced level of training phase. But yea, i'm really looking forward to my POP day! It would be on the 9th of April and to mark the significance of that day, we would have to march a whopping 24km with full battle gear which is roughly around 20kg at least i guess? We will be marching the 24km to Marina Floating Platform where we will have our parade in front of our loved ones!
So yea, on a closer note, this upcoming week is gonna be horror week for me! I'll be booking back into camp this evening. As of tmw, it will be the start of my field camp and it will stretch till thursday. The field camp is something that i dread a lot! Though i haven't been through it yet, my seniors and sergeants are all telling us that it is gonna be hell break loose! Here's a rough guide of what i guess we will be going through. First up will be our 8km march with full battle gear to our field camp destination. We have to dig a personal trench called a shell scrape that is long enough to fit ourselves and our field pack into it. I heard that we have to sleep in it and if the weather is gonna be rainy, then we will be drenched in the trenches! Yea, that's the first major setback - uncomfortable sleeping conditions. Next up is our food. We will be eating army combat rations so the portions and food quality is gonna be pathetic. I heard from my seniors that the biscuits are so hard that they dont break into two when you bite on it. Hmm then next will be the hygiene issue. We wont be able to bathe during this 5 days so we're gonna itch and stink like hell! And besides that, whenever we need to take a piss or pass motion, there wont be toilets in the jungle so we gotta dig another hole to do our 'business'! Yea all in all, this 5 days are gonna be like hell coz we have to adapt to living in the jungle. I even heard that there are wild boars, monkeys and snakes! So yea, i just have to suck it up and it will be a passing phase. :)

Wish me all the best for my field camp, and i'll update when i'm back! :D

Valentine's Day 2011! ♥
Sunday, February 13, 2011
Baby and i celebrated our Valentine's Day yesterday! It was a much awaited day for the both of us as it would be our first Valentine's Day together! :DWe reached back at my house in the morning after book out at around 11am or so and i bathed and unpacked my bag etc! Left my house at around 1pm and we went to have our brunch as we were feeling hungry! We went to Paya Lebar's Singpost and i brought baby to Long John Silver! We ordered the combo set for 2 which includes a 2 piece dory fish and fries and a grilled cajun with rice set! I also ordered and additional side dish of chips with melted cheese! :)Left the place after we were done eating and proceeded to our destination of our first plan!

We took the train all the way to Jurong East and i kept mum about plans the whole time so baby was quite confused where we were going! After getting off the train, we went to Snow City! It is a place that i've always wanted to bring baby put couldn't really find the time coz it was quite far! So yea, we bought our tickets and off we were into the freezing cold room! We loved the slide inside but it's a pity that the photographer wasn't inside to take a photo of us when we were snow-sliding! But yea, many other photos of us with the different displays were taken and baby wanted to purchase the photos as a form of remembrance! I purchased the promotion which consists of one 6R photo plus 4 wallet sized photos for $30! Baby said that would make an awesome Valentine's Day present! :)

After having fun at Snow City, we had the option of either spending time at Science Centre, visiting the Army Museum or going to town to catch a movie! Baby wanted to catch a movie so off we were on our way to town! Took the train and alighted at City Hall. We went to Marina Square and wanted to catch the show "Just go with it" but realised that the show timings were either at 6.40pm or 9.30pm and both would cut into our dinner plans! So yea, we left the cinema feeling a little disappointed but i suggested walking around to find Valentine's Day presents for baby! I feel kinda bad about this part coz i've been spending all my time in camp and i couldn't find the time to go out to buy presents. Plus i would be spending every moment with baby the minute that i'm out from camp! So yea, we walked around Marina Square and City Link to find a present but in vain. I finally found the perfect gift for baby at Raffles City! I bought baby a card and i put the Science Centre photos into the envelope! I also bought baby a crystal rose that was packaged inside a nice white box. It has a sweet love quote inside and i was sure baby would like it! I decided on this idea, coz baby didnt want me to spend money to buy roses as they would fade and die after 2 or 3 days and if i were to buy artificial roses then it would be a little insincere!
And after buying my presents for baby, it was time for dinner! Oh yea, i forgot to add that i bought the presents in secrecy! I asked baby to wait for me at a particular spot in a shop while i bought the presents and hid them! :) Haha so yup, we proceeded with our dinner which was the highlight event of the day! I brought baby for dinner at Chijmes! We spent awhile walking along the stretch of restaurants before deciding to dine at this restaurant called Insomnia. We ordered the dinner set which comprises of an appetizer, a main course, and finally a desert. For the appetizer, baby ordered the soup of the day while i ordered spicy chicken salad. The appetizer alone was mouth-watering! Next up was our choice of main course! We both ordered the Rib eye steak! Baby had hers well done while mine was Medium rare. The main course was a filling portion of rib eye steak, along with vegetables and wedges! Baby was 101% full to the brim by the time she finished her main course! Lastly, we had our desert which was a tasty slice of chocolate cake! Awesomeness! :) Apart from the dinner set, i ordered an additional cocktail. Baby liked the drink "Sex on the beach" so i ordered that! The ambiance of having dinner at Chijmes was awesome and we had just what baby wanted - a candlelit dinner! ♥

Home sweet home for us after dinner! :) This year's Valentine's Day was awesome and i'll do my best to make every Valentine's Day a blast k dear! And like you mentioned, every single day is a Valentine's Day to us as long as we are happily together! ♥

7th Monthsary! ♥
Sunday, February 6, 2011
Haven't updated my blog for almost one whole month and yes, before we knew it one more month has passed! This means that i'm left with 2 more months of BMT to go and it also marks my monthsary celebraion with each passing month!

Babygirl and i had our 7th monthsary celebrations yesterday! Though i felt kinda weak coz i was battling a mild fever of 38.0, i told myself that i'm gonna have an awesome monthsary coz my baby planned it for me! :D We departed my house quite early at around 8.30am and took a stroll to East Coast Park's Macs to have our breakfast. My babygirl had her Big Breakfast meal while i had a Sausage McMuffin meal plus an additional order of a cup of Caramel Cappuccino! Ate our breakfast happily and had to make our way back to my condo at around 9.45am coz babygirl's dad would be fetching her to bainian for the morning! Handed babygirl back to her dad at 10 and i reached back home to find out that only my brother was at home. Felt quite bored with nothing to do so i suggested playing pool to my brother! We took a bus down to Parkway and played pool at kpool for about 45mins and my babygirl called me to tell me that she was done with her visiting! I played till my one hour was up and baby just reached Parkway! My brother went back home while baby and i proceeded with our monthsary plans!
We took a bus to Marina Square and baby said that first on her list of plans was to catch a movie as we were still full from the morning's breakfast! We bought our tickets for the 12.55pm "Shaolin" show! Both of us heard that this show had quite high ratings and was nice so we decided to catch it! I would say that the 129mins long movie was really nice! Besides the fighting scenes, there are also touching moments! So yea, awesome show! Highly recommended! :D

After our movie, baby wanted to bring me to sing k so we went to the kbox but we were shocked by the sky high CNY prices! From the usual $6 nett for happy hour that we usually pay, the prices sky-rocketed till $27 per person! Both of us decided that it was too costly and we would rather spend the money on something else! We felt a little hungry, so we went to Waraku for our late lunch! I had an awesome Terrayaki Chicken Don set while my baby had some spicy chicken ramen set! Both of us were very satisfied with our food! :D Stayed there for awhile to chit chat and brainstorm how to spend our time after the meal and finally decided to take a bus back to Tampines and visit IKEA and then head to Compasspoint's mini "Funfair" before sending baby back home! However on our way back on the bus, baby decided to have a change of plans to go to Hougang Mall to visit her mom at work and then head back to her house to rest! It was only a while later that we realised that we felt tired and decided to just abandon all plans and head back to baby's home to rest. Yup, so that was pretty much how we spent our 7th monthsary! I'm so looking forward to next week's Valentine's Day and i'm gonna do my best to let my babygirl have an enjoyable Valentine's Day! <3
